ClearByteDev ("we," "our," or "us") operates the AutoCare - Vehicle Maintenance mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data You Provide

The App allows you to enter and store vehicle-related data, including but not limited to:

• Vehicle information (brand, model, year, license plate, VIN, mileage)
• Service and maintenance records (type, date, cost, location, notes, parts)
• Fuel and EV charging records (amount, price, odometer, station)
• Reminders (title, type, due date, target mileage)
• Vehicle photographs captured via camera or selected from your photo library
• Currency preference

1.2 Automatically Collected Data

We collect limited anonymous analytics data to improve the App's stability and performance. This includes:

• App usage events (e.g., screens viewed, features used)
• Crash reports and error logs
• Device type, operating system version, and app version
• A randomly generated anonymous device identifier

This data does not include any personally identifiable information, vehicle details, or content you enter into the App.

1.3 Advertising Data

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google AdMob may collect and process certain data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy, including:

• Device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android)
• IP address (for approximate geographic targeting)
• Device and app interaction data for ad personalization

On iOS, we request your permission via the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before accessing your device's advertising identifier. You may decline this request, and the App will continue to function with non-personalized ads.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• App Functionality: To provide vehicle tracking, maintenance logging, fuel monitoring, reminders, statistics, and report generation features.
• Analytics: To understand usage patterns, identify crashes, and improve the App's reliability and user experience.
• Advertising: To display relevant advertisements through Google AdMob and sustain the free availability of the App.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your vehicle data, service records, fuel logs, reminders, and photographs are stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers or any third party.

We implement reasonable technical measures to protect the data processed by the App. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data stored on your device.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your personal data with third parties, except as described below:

• Google AdMob: Advertising data as described in Section 1.3, subject to your consent where required by law.
• Analytics: Anonymous, aggregated usage and crash data to our analytics service for App improvement.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

5. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right of Access: You may request confirmation of whether we process your personal data and obtain a copy of that data.
• Right to Rectification: You may correct any inaccurate data directly within the App.
• Right to Erasure: You may delete any or all of your data through the App's "Delete All Data" function in the Profile section, or by uninstalling the App.
• Right to Restrict Processing: You may request that we limit the processing of your data.
• Right to Data Portability: You may export your data using the App's JSON backup export feature.
• Right to Object: You may object to data processing based on legitimate interests.
• Right to Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw advertising consent at any time through the App's Privacy Settings (available in the Profile section in applicable regions) or through your device settings.

6. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process data under the following legal bases:

• Performance of Contract: Processing necessary to provide the App's core functionality (local data storage, notifications, reports).
• Consent: For personalized advertising and tracking (obtained via the GDPR consent dialog and/or ATT prompt). You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate Interest: For anonymous analytics and crash reporting to maintain and improve the App.

7. Data Retention

Your locally stored vehicle data persists on your device until you manually delete it through the App or uninstall the App. Anonymous analytics data is retained on our servers for a maximum of 12 months, after which it is permanently deleted.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@clearbyte.com, and we will take steps to delete such information.

9. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Google AdMob: Google Privacy Policy
• Google User Messaging Platform (UMP): Used to obtain GDPR consent for advertising in applicable regions.

10. International Data Transfers

Anonymous analytics and advertising data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States. Where such transfers occur, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

11. Device Permissions

The App may request the following device permissions:

• Camera and Photo Library: To capture or select vehicle photographs. Photos are stored locally and are not uploaded.
• Notifications: To deliver scheduled maintenance reminders and alerts.
• Tracking (iOS): To serve personalized advertisements. This permission is optional and does not affect App functionality.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
